Environmental Management

Facing the global threat of climate change, achieving net-zero emissions has become a critical global consensus. As a key member of Taiwan's corporate decarbonization efforts and a leading global provider of optical services, Radiant Opto-Electronics is demonstrating its firm determination to actively reduce carbon emissions. We do this by responding to the Paris Agreement's goal of limiting the global temperature increase to 1.5°C and by committing to follow the Taiwanese government's "2050 Net Zero Emissions" pathway, thereby contributing to the sustainability of our planet and humanity.

Furthermore, by implementing the TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) framework, we regularly assess climate change risks and formulate corresponding environmental management policies and energy-saving and carbon reduction strategies. Considering that the company is in a phase of operational expansion and growth, we have referenced the SBTi's linear reduction pathway in developing our climate action strategy. This has led to our "2030 Radiant Sustainable Development Carbon Reduction Goal," under which we commit to a 25% absolute reduction in Category 1 and Category 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030.

When planning our transition targets and roadmap, Radiant Opto-Electronics places great importance on the participation of our stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, industry peers, government, and civil society, to facilitate a smooth transition. Concurrently, we will continue to enhance our assessment of the nature-related and social impacts and risks associated with this transition, ensuring that the rights and interests of stakeholders such as employees, communities, and consumers are protected to achieve a just transition.

Water Management

Water Resources Management

Radiant Opto-Electronics' operation's primary water resource was municipal tap water. Because there were no processes requiring large volumes of water, usage was mainly for domestic purposes and for HVAC systems. Furthermore, all operating locations were located within industrial parks, and the company did not use surface water, groundwater, seawater, or produced water; none of the sites were in water-stressed areas. However, in response to the risk of water resource shortages caused by changes in rainfall patterns due to climate change, Radiant Opto-Electronics installed reservoirs as emergency response measures and established a long term 2030 water resource management goal to reduce the Group's water consumption intensity by 20% relative to the base year (2021). To achieve this goal, it continued to promote various water-saving measures, enhanced water use efficiency, and reduced water resource environmental impact.

 

 

After use, wastewater from each of Radiant Opto-Electronics' plant primarily originated from domestic sewage. All wastewater discharges complied with local effluent standards, were discharged into the area's sewage system for wastewater treatment, and water quality testing was performed regularly. The 2025 testing results all complied with the water quality standards prescribed by law; no material impacts were identified, and impacts on the surrounding community, environment, and biota were minimal.

 

 

 


Statistics showed that the Group's third-party water usage (tap water) in 2025 was approximately 953.7519 million liters, and the total water consumption was approximately 95.3751 million liters. Currently, the Nanjing Plant is equipped with a water recycling system, and water usage improvements have been made at the Wujiang Plant. The water savings in 2025 compared to the previous year were approximately 158.1 million liters.
