Seeing the Padan Flower, as Beautiful as Silvergrass

Radiant has once again collaborated with the Home From Above, acting as a mediator for the southern base schools.

We recommend the Kaohsiung City Municipal Padan Tribe Junior and Elementary School, situated in the Shanlin District of Kaohsiung.

Fifteen years ago, the primary and secondary schools in the Padan Tribal Community were severely impacted by Typhoon Morakot. The picturesque campus at Namaxia sustained considerable damage, necessitating the relocation of the school to the Da Ai Park District Community in Shanlin District, where both teachers and students embraced a spirit of gratitude and coexisted harmoniously with the natural environment.

This time, the children utilized their cameras to take us on a journey titled "Following the Elders Back to the Mountains" to "harvest bamboo shoots." Through their lenses and storytelling techniques, they guided us in understanding the wisdom of our ancestors regarding the processes of harvesting, peeling, and selling bamboo shoots. They also brought seedlings back to the campus for planting, with the intention of instilling a spirit of reverence for nature and a love for the land. This project, in turn, strengthens their connection to their homeland and helps them understand local industries.
