"Light and Shadow Journey: When Innovative Theater Meets Innovative Tools," awarded the Gold Award at the Taiwan Sustainable Action Awards.
Radiant Opto-Electronics, under the theme "When Innovative Theater Meets Innovative Tools," aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal SDG 11, which promotes the preservation of shadow puppet theater culture. The company has been awarded the Gold Prize at the "TSAA Taiwan Sustainable Action Awards," organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), for the second time.
"When Innovative Theater Meets Innovative Tools" leverages the core research and development of Radiant to create groundbreaking tools. This initiative transforms shadow play lighting into LED cold light sources for enhanced safety, designing an intuitive control console for performers, which provides adjustable color temperatures to suit the preferences of users and theater groups, and applies professional lighting management to ensure consistent light directionality, solving the issue of rod shadows on the projection screen. This greatly improves performance quality, enhancing the effectiveness of cultural heritage preser vation and establishing the theater genre.
In addition, this initiative is integrated into "A Five-Year Effort Culminating in the New Innovative Play 'The Road of Light,'" which was inspired by short plays. Creative lighting was used to enhance this new-style stage production, which was a collaboration between the Kaohsiung-based modern theater troupe Shinezone Theatre and the century-old Yung Shing Le Shadow Puppet Troupe. This partnership paves the way for traditional shadow play and creates a novel shadow play experience for the public, allowing this art form to once again enter the lives of ordinary people.
Kaohsiung is a city that hosts the only three remaining traditional shadow puppet theater troupes in Taiwan. There is currently an urgent need to address the gaps in both the skills and craftsmanship associated with this art form. As a local enterprise, Radiant Opto-Electronics has acknowledged the decline of traditional culture and continues to collaborate with the Kaohsiung Museum of History and its affiliated Kaohsiung Puppet Theater. The Company is committed to utilizing its core technology of "light" to enhance traditional arts and sustain the enduring legacy of shadow puppetry.
