Picture Book Publication The Night of the Full Moon

The Radiant Education Foundation is situated in the harbor city of Kaohsiung. Committed to its mission of promoting environmental edu cation, the Foundation aligns its initiatives with the United Nations Sus tainable Development Goals. In the realm of marine sustainability, it advances marine education through illustrated books. From 2024 to 2026, the Foundation will implement a publishing plan, releasing one book each year, with the themes "Lagoon, Harbor, and Ocean Current" serving as the focal points of the illustrated series. This year, in collabo ration with Forever Young Books, an independent bookstore in Kaohsi ung, the second installment of the ocean-themed picture book series, The Night of the Full Moon, was published. This book features illustrations by Ms. Hsu Fang-Ru and a story written by Ms. Hsieh Ming-Fang. Set in Cianjhen Fishing Harbor, the largest deep-sea fishing base in Taiwan, it follows small animals that have escaped from the Shoushan Zoo as they explore the lively and surpris ing harbor. Through their journey, readers gain insight into the harbor’s cultural landscape, deep-sea fishing industry, and seafood processing, while indirectly highlighting the close relationship between marine resources and food culture. Through engaging and vivid storytelling, the book aims to convey the importance of marine conservation, encouraging readers to explore and support ocean sustainability through reading.
In collaboration once again with Lee Ko-Yung Memorial Library, Radiant hosted the original illustration exhibition of The Night of the Full Moon by Hsu Fang-Ru — Animals' Harbor Excursion. The exhibition aims to help the public better understand the close connection between marine resources and food culture through the display of the original artwork. During the exhibition, to bring the ocean closer to the urban public, a program was launched to recruit and train the “Radiant Little Water Drop Story Volunteers.” These volunteers shared the book’s messages of marine conser vation and food education through over 43 community storytelling sessions, reaching a wider audience, while also conducting activities within the library. A total of 21 group visit sessions were held, during which trained volunteers shared stories and guided attendees through the exhibition.

First Publication of the Ocean Handmade Book "Come Play with Us" Selected for the Ministry of Culture’s recommended reading series for primary and secondary schools

Radiant Education Foundation’s first published picture book, Come Play with Us, was selected for the Ministry of Culture’s “recommended reading series for primary and secondary schools.” This marks an important milestone in the foundation’s efforts to promote environmental education and signifies recognition of the work’s artistic and educa tional value. This book took the unique "lagoon" of Taiwan’s south western coast as its topic. Through children’s play, it connected the lagoon with the ocean and delicately depicted the environment and ecology. The picture book sought to invite readers of all ages to enter the lagoon—"Come Play with Us"—and to learn, through play, to cherish the ocean and to safeguard the envi ronment. The Foundation will continue to cultivate reading education, fueling its development, and hopes to accompany children in discovering the joy of learn ing through more high-quality publications.
