Sponsored by Sino-Fung Financial Holdings and Sino-Fung Bank, the "2024 See My Hometown Film Festival and Results Presentation" organized by the Taiwan See Hometown Promotion and Education Association, after half a year of incubation and companionship, the 13 films completed by young directors have been released today (26 ) made its debut at the Zhonglun Building of Taipei Sino-Fung Financial Holdings on the same day, telling a touching story of "belonging to my hometown".
The main theme of the "See Hometown" project this year is "Love Hometown Action". Through the lens of 7 base schools and 6 groups of returning young directors, 13 hometown documentaries record the unsung heroes and stories of this land and convey the feelings of hometown. Every time the shutter is pressed, it is a starting point for change, hoping to inspire more people to participate in this action of loving hometown.The young directors expressed their gratitude to Cao Weishi, Chairman of Wing Fung Bank, Liu Zuhua, President of Mingzhi University of Science and Technology, Du Guangkai, Director of UMC Corporate Information Office, Su Wenyu, Honorary Chairman of the Republic of China Love Makers Learning Association (PTWA), as well as those who have assisted in the past year. , support and guide teachers, publish their carefully shot hometown video works.
The Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Ye Bingcheng, who was originally scheduled to attend, was unable to attend due to temporary business responsibilities. Instead, he congratulated the success of the results conference via video recording. Ye Bingcheng said that the Ministry of Education has always been looking forward to cooperating with the government and the private sector to realize "people" as the center of learning. From the combination of subject knowledge, humanistic care, creative thinking and hands-on concepts, the "See Hometown" project is to cultivate more people. Many children were able to realize their potential, recognize the importance of caring for this beautiful land, and create more touching video records.
This year’s 13 documentaries start from Lianjiang Dongyin in the north, Yilan Geng Fanggui Mountain in the east, Banan Flower Tribe in the south, and Tainan Coast in the west. The themes cover environmental actions, local emotions and cultural inheritance, all of which require the delicate work of young directors. Observation and excavation, through the perspective of children, let us slow down together, follow their footsteps, and explore this land together. The 7 base schools have unique styles: Beixin Elementary School in New Taipei City visited local craftsmen who are famous for their fine carvings; Nanshi Elementary School in Taoyuan protects the habitat of rhinoceros beetles; Puli Junior High School in Nantou explores white bamboo shoots in purple light The secret of lighting in the fields; Chiayi Yi Zhuguo Middle School uses a crocodile farm to convey love stories; Kaohsiung Banan Flower Tribe primary and secondary schools follow the elderly up the mountain to experience the taste of harvesting bamboo shoots; Genfang Elementary School in Toucheng, Yilan crosses the coastal highway , walking into the ocean that is very close but far away at the other end; Beicheng Elementary School in Luodong, Yilan, pursues the memory of the forest in the mountains where "Mian Nao" sees the sun. Each child uses their unique vision to describe details of their hometown in detail.
The 6 groups of returning young directors have rich and diverse themes: "Er Deer in the Flower Field" in Lukang, Changhua shows the delicate craftsmanship of the incense making process; "Flowers Now and Hazel" in Fuxing, Changhua follows the footsteps of the village guardian-the village chief in the morning light. ; Nantou Puli's "Evil Bro" uses the garbage mountain as the background to start a fight against garbage reduction; Tainan Grand Shrine's "Golden Dollar Treasure" introduces the golden bats on campus in a humorous way; Tainan's forest "Lush Land Investigation Office" is run by a small The director personally explained the home in his heart; Lian Jiangdongyin's "Jie Ge's Family" recorded the Dongyin Shuming Festival in the northern border of the country.
Telling stories through images is an important way to cultivate children's observation and creativity. In the process of telling stories, the children re-examined their understanding of their hometown, and by weaving these stories, they inspired their concern for the people, things and things in their hometown. Starting in 2017, the "See Hometown" project entered its eighth year and has produced a total of 68 films and trained more than 250 young directors. Since 2019, SinoPac Bank has sponsored the "See Hometown" project. In 2022, I was deeply moved by "Crane! Fun Schooling Together" filmed by Shulin Elementary School in Qigu District, Tainan City. This video recorded the "Black Leather Academy" of Qigu ”This school for seniors. In 2023, the plan will take root further and hold "Hometown Film Festivals" in Zhushan, Tainan and Taichung respectively to screen documentaries shot by local young directors and share with villagers the stories of their hometown in the minds of local children. In 2024, we went to Lianjiang Dongyin, the "Northern Frontier of the Country", to hold a home film festival and a small local trip. Through the "seeing" of the young director and the "experience" of traveling, we witnessed the close connection with our hometown.
